Houston Texans Football – How to Watch Texans Football Free

Houston Texans fans are glued to their televisions in anticipation of the team’s 2019 season. Following a record-breaking 2018 season that started off with a franchise-worst 0-3 start and ended with a playoff berth after a wild 9-0 win streak (also a franchise record), Texans fans hope the team has finally shaken off its years of being “a .500 club” and taking home another division title. That anticipation largely rests on the shoulders of the team’s quarterback/wide receiver duo of QB Deshaun Watson and DeAndre Hopkins, who are each entering the prime of their respective careers.

With all this anticipation, the only thing more exciting than watching Houston Texans football – is watching FREE Houston Texans football.

Take a peek inside this free Texans football guide to make all the right calls on how to watch Deshaun Watson and his team play this week.

Indoor HD Antenna

Looking at the Houston Texans 2019 schedule, the Texans will likely be battling for control of the AFC south all the way to week 17, as they play two division games in the last three games of the year. And all of those games will be available for free on over-the-air TV.

Getting clear reception from an indoor TV antenna used to be like completing a Hail Mary. Not anymore. Today’s indoor TV antennas provide free TV to their owners in crystal clear HD.

Over-the-air broadcast has changed as well. Most major metro areas have dozens of over-the-air channels to choose from, and thanks to the expansion of football on TV with Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, and now Thursday Night Football, that means more opportunities to watch the Texans play for free (once you’ve purchased your antenna, of course). Combine these powerful tools with Highline TV’s Signal Locator Map to get free football monthly for a total upfront cost that is less than most cable boxes (and if you’re looking for that critical November matchup against the Colts, that’s on Fox, the NFL Network, and Amazon Prime on Thursday, November 21).

Outdoor HD Antenna

While an indoor HD Antenna works well for most fans near big cities, we know there are many Texans fans who don’t live near the city. For Texans fans in outlying areas, outdoor TV antennas can provide incredible reception from up to 150 miles away (at less than the cost of most gaming systems). These long-range antennas come with indoor wireless remote control setups that offer programmable locations that can be locked in once they are found using Highline TV’s Signal Locator Map. That way, whether the Houston Texans are on CBS, Fox, ABC or NBC, you’ve got them dialed in and ready to go. The total cost to get set up is still less than one month of some high-end cable packages, and the result is free TV from any broadcast signal within 150 miles!

Yahoo! Sports and Yahoo! Fantasy Football Apps

New for the 2019 season, the NFL has relaxed its rules on requiring phone users to sign in through their cable providers to watch games via apps. As a result, Yahoo! has partnered with the NFL to show certain games via its Yahoo! Sports and Yahoo! Fantasy apps.

Because the Texans are likely to be in playoff contention throughout the second half of the 2019 season, it is likely that they will be featured quite often on Yahoo! In addition, the Texans play Sunday Night Football and Thursday Night Football in the second half of 2019, giving fans multiple opportunities to watch Deshaun and DeAndre in prime time.

The Yahoo! apps are free to download on Android and iPhone, and (if you have a Yahoo! account) you can use them to watch games for free! The games are still subject to regional blackout requirements, but they provide a useful, mobile alternative to see games live.

Amazon Prime and Twitch Prime

Similar to Yahoo!, Amazon has inked a deal with the NFL to allow certain games to be broadcast live to Prime members through their Amazon Prime Video platform. With the corporate behemoth’s recent acquisition of the game-focused streaming platform Twitch, Amazon is poised to offer NFL content to multiple users through gaming systems, phones and computers.

These options are not as tailored geographically as over-the-air broadcast, and you have to be a Prime member to receive them. However, there are ways to try out the service and cancel before you are charged, so if you’re not a Prime member, you might be able to snag an important game or two before your trial period expires. The Texans pivotal November 21 battle against the Indianapolis Colts will be broadcast on Amazon Prime for sure, but other games may pop up on the streaming provider as well.

Other streaming services

They aren’t the most secure, but there are streaming services available on the web that serve up slightly less-than-official streams of Houston Texans games. The nice part about many of these sites is you can get the Texans play-by-play regardless of whether they are home or away.  If you want to watch the Texans and you don’t mind dodging malware attacks and installing pop-up blockers, third party web streaming services will get you there – just maybe not in the most secure way.

For die-hard Texans fans looking for ways to watch their favorite team on Sunday (or Monday or Thursday), these five options provide multiple different audibles they can call to watch their favorite team. So get ready, because as Houston Texans fans know, it’s going to be another nail-biting season – all the way to week 17.
